37 hours a week (including some evening meetings)

In this newly created Apprentice (Governance Services) role, we are looking for someone who is interested in supporting the administration of the Council’s decision-making process and in information management. You will be working alongside colleagues at all levels, ensuring the Council meets it statutory compliance.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as first point of contact for the team in relation to governance. Taking calls and arranging follow up action, resolving queries where possible.
  • Manage mailboxes for Democratic Services and Information Governance.
  • Assist in co-ordinating and redacting responses for subject access requests and freedom of information requests.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records in relation to subject access requests and freedom of information requests.
  • Attend the Chair’s briefings and producing scripts for formal meetings of the Council.
  • Draft minutes and liaising with officers and committee chairs to ensure accuracy.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Grade 4 or equivalent GCSE in Maths and English
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Collaborative team player
  • Ability to work under own initiative and manage time effectively
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Organised, proactive and ability to prioritise workload

We are looking for someone who is keen and quick to learn with drive and enthusiasm to learn new skills. Training is provided on the job and through a recognised qualification.
